Broken main stem on Celebrity Tomato

Oops! I mistakenly snipped off the main stem of a couple Celebrity tomatoes, just above the first bud.
There’s been no recovery in about 2 weeks. Will these eventually grow a new stem on their own or will something need to be done?
I always prune low suckers for some size control but I guess I got a little aggressive this time!
I may have done this on one Brandywine also.

If you're not seeing any lateral growth after 2 weeks I doubt the plant will recover, I 've done this lots of times. If the mistake cuts were only partial across the stem, I always put a wrap of duct around the stem to hold it together
