Question wrt the Automatic Watering System
« on: March 09, 2021, 01:17:37 pm »
I just received my system that I'm about to install in an existing four root an veg box system.  The manual that came with the kit says to remove the existing filler tube and replace with the new sensor, which has a clear flexible tube with a fitting on the bottom (that is smaller than the existing tube).   The manual on their website says to put the sensor in the existing tube.

Since the box is already set up I'm a little concerned with the idea of removing the tube and placing the new sensor in the hole since there is obviously a potential of a lot of dirt falling into the reservoir and possibly clogging the drain hole, esp since the fitting on the end doesn't look like it would keep dirt from falling in the reservoir since it is smaller than the existing tube.  Interesting also is the sensor has clips on the top to connect to the existing filler tube.

So my question is do they really want me to remove the existing filler tube and then try to insert the new sensor and flexible tube into the hole in the existing dirt?

You should just put the clear sensor tube in the existing reservoir tube, unless another reservoir tube was included in your kit. Actually the reservoir tubes can gently be twisted and pulled to remove without the mix caving in.
Why Google, when you have me?
