Ants in Earthbox
« on: October 20, 2018, 05:01:09 pm »
I know this was discussed before, but I couldn't find the info.  What do I need to do?  Want to plant kale jn the box.

Thanks, Aline

Depends on the type of ant. Regular ants (meaning other than mutant fire ants) I plug the drain hole and fill the box with water and leave it for a day. The ants will leave on their own to find a new home. If they are fire ants the box belongs to them now. Filling with water will do nothing but make them meaner. Best just to buy a new box and let them keep theirs.  :o

Aline, use a spinosad a.i. drench for fire ants, 4 TBS/gallon. You have to pull the cover back and thoroughly drench the box
Why Google, when you have me?

I dumped the box in a low area of the yard and let them eat ant poison.  It's a done deal, ants gone.  Need to redo earthbox.
