Dimensions
« on: June 07, 2020, 10:25:09 pm »
I can't find the dimensions anywhere online.  What is the width x length x depth of the regular and the junior box?

I'm interested in hanging a junior box from a railing and I want to know what size would fit (I'll probably have to build a custom hanger.)
It would also be interesting to get a rough estimate of the weight, although I can estimate that by just using the weight of water (which is heavier than soil).

Those measurements below are from the Earthbox website.
The Whisenant Farms website says (30x15x12) and (23x8x7)

The weight would be: the box, the media (2cubic ft or 1cubic ft) (some media are heavier), how much water is wicked into the media, and the water in the reservoir (3 gallon or 1 gallon)

Thanks for the response!  It's odd that this is hard to find... they aren't even consistent with how they describe width, height and depth.  They list width before height on the Junior but height before width/depth on the regular.  A diagram would be nice.

That's also a substantial difference between what Whisenant Farms lists, 1.5" difference in depth and/or height:
  Junior =   23 x 9.5 x 7.25 OR 23 x 8 x 7
  Regular = 29 x 11 x 13.5 or 30 x 15 x 12

I asked on the Earthbox Facebook page but they only answered with one of the dimensions (23" L x 9.5" W x 7.25").
Is it possible that the sizes have changed and that Whisenant Farms is using an older one?

Maybe I'm in a unique situation here and it doesn't matter to most people, but I have a small railing & deck area and need to know exactly how many I can fit!

Hello EltonLaroo,

Space to move around them and harvest is all that is necessary. The old forum had tons of pictures with very many people's gardens in every kind of orientation and crowding.

I too have some on a friend's apartment deck, installed a water barrel, and have the Automatic Watering System connected to keep them watered.

I have one junior on this deck, and it did poorly, but I believe that it was due to the swirling wind which was a bit much in the inner courtyard.

I have put up a screen on the railing to help block the high winds, and am going to plant some peppers to see if they do well. I'll update this thread when I have results.
