Title: Row covers for Earthbox?
Post by: tds1 on May 07, 2023, 10:36:38 am
Hi all - Getting ready for the season and trying to figure out if I should try something different for the covers.
I have 24 EB's so using the covers adds up each season.
I saw a video where someone was using row covers that were cut and tied at the corners.
Wondering if anyone uses this? If so, where are you buying the row covers, and any tips for cutting and tying them?
Is it worth the effort?
Thanks!

You saw one of my EarthBox videos. Here it is, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOjO8XGoivU&t=16s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOjO8XGoivU&t=16s)

Here is the link to the row cover I'm currently using, https://growerssolution.com/collections/paper-plastic-mulch/products/black-plastic-mulch-1-0-mil-embossed (https://growerssolution.com/collections/paper-plastic-mulch/products/black-plastic-mulch-1-0-mil-embossed)

Since I have 136 EarthBoxes making my own covers definitely saves some dollars.

Thank you! Yes, it was your video I saw!

Really appreciate the link!
Is it seem to be about the same thickness material as the original EB ones?

Thank you again!
I ordered 4' x 250' roll of the row cover in black and white from place above.
It came well packaged in a 4' long box.
It was easy to unroll, and I cut a 3' length, so I had a piece about 4' x 3'.
I then cut that in half, so each piece was 2' x 3'.
I bought Alliance 17" rubber bands off Amazon to secure them to the Earthbox.
The 17" bands are the perfect size, and tightly secure the row cover under the earth box lip.
It was super easy, and they are very secure.
Great solution!
