Title: Verticillium Wilt
Post by: MarciEardley on September 10, 2020, 01:20:07 pm
My Earthbox with tomatoes developed either Verticullium or Fusillium Wilt and the plants are dying.  Was planning on using a replant kit and the same soil.  Reading up on wilt, not sure if I should do this, or if I should empty the box and start fresh.  Advice from others needed.  Thank you!

Are you sure? What growing mix did you use? The wilt bacteria don't like peat-based growing media. I've been growing tomatoes in the same EBs for 12 years, spring and fall, and never have had bacterial wilt. Cut the plant at the base and stick the end halfway into a glass of water, of bacteroal there will be bacterial streamers flowing from the tomato stem.
