Title: German Queen Tomato Plant Not Producing Flowers
Post by: James on August 18, 2017, 09:54:31 am
I am trying to help someone with a problem they are experiencing. They have an original box and have planted one plum tomato and one German queen variety in the same box. They used https://www.lowes.com/pd/Miracle-Gro-1-5-cu-ft-Raised-Bed-Soil/1000180335 (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Miracle-Gro-1-5-cu-ft-Raised-Bed-Soil/1000180335) (Miracle Grow Raised Bed Soil) and added fertilizer and dolomite at the the initial planting. ( I am finding out if it was organic or standard) The plum tomato is doing exceptional and producing tons of fruit, but the German Queen is not producing flowers. This plant is growing fine and should be producing flowers and fruit by now. Is there a way to get the German Queen to produce flowers/fruit in its state of maturity? We are working on getting images uploaded. Thank you in advance!

Looks like that one is the standard fertilizer (NPK 7-7-7)

soil for raised bed in not appropriate for SWC like Earthbox. They are for in ground, raised bed growing and as such usually have  manure, compost, sand and other ingredients that will impede wicking.  Off the top of my head I think German Queen is a pretty to very late season producer.   Don't know where your friend is located or how long plants have been growing.

I've trialed the MG Raised Bed mix in some EBs several years ago. Since I'm not your average gardener I made it work. But my advice is don't use in your EBs. I know it's cheaper than the correct mixes, just remember you get what you pay for.
