Picked up 5 Growums at Lowes this morning, originally $39.95 for $9.95. Cheap EB knockoff but should be functional at the UNF.

Nice find! I'm going to head over there after work. I may be able to use it as a "sketch pad" for some ideas. Are the dimensions similar to the EB? I can't find any dimensions online for anything but their smaller seed sets.
Cheers, J.C.

I just looked these up out of curiosity. There is a link for the garden in a box instructions. It shows pictures of the parts and toward the end in feeding instructions it states that the reservior is 2.5 gallons. This makes me think it may be slightly smaller than an earthbox. I could not find any dimensions listed.

After putting one together, which is a pain, there has to be some kind of infringement going on

I might have said this before, and if so forgive me, but the acquaintance/former friend of mine that works for them, came up to me last year at a show where they were introducing the line and said...Oh, by the way, I knocked off your box, I hope we are still friends.

Hmph...perhaps you should have offered this gentle soul a new friend? Like this fella below. Does wonders for Tomatos!! Cheers, J.C.

Well, if they are discounting them out for under ten bucks, I'd say that friend "missed" a few things!

The marketing was way too cutesy for the dollars they originally wanted. the marketing was about everything but growing the plants

I agree. It has a very "As seen on tv" feel to it. Cheers, J.C.

Ahhh now we are really venturing into my other field of expertise, besides growing things. Their marketing...I could write a book on the blunders I have seen over the years. I predicted this company would last approximately 3 years, because of the bad marketing blunders. I have kept a very close eye on them, and will see what they have to offer at the independent garden center show, week after next, I see they are signed up for mega space again.
Gardendoc....can't wait to see how these things weather, etc. Do they say where they are manufactured?

Here is what I received when I asked their customer service the question---they responded within the hour.. Thank you for your interest in Growums. All components of the Garden in a Box are made in the USA except for the purple container. Those are manufactured in Israel, a preferred trading partner of the USA. The coconut coir, which is a renewable resource, is brought in from Sri Lanka. Coconuts are not a large crop here in the US so coir is not harvested in the USA. So the parts made in the US are the black plastic shelf, the water level styrofoam/plastic and the watering tubes...the purple box and the coir are the main components...
