Spraying UNDER the leaves is always a major requirement...

yet it is nearly impossible to do well and thoroughly.

Do any of you have any tricks to make getting under the leaves easy?

Not to sound like a smarty pants but....turn the nozzle til it points up. Grin

I have a pump sprayer that holds about a gallon. I turn the nozzle angle up and stick the nozzle inside the leaf canopy and spray. No need to spray the tops as the they'll get wet while spraying under the leave.

I don't take that as smarty...but I do that, yet the underside of leaves on the front side of the plant still don't get hit....and some on the back really don't either, due to the angle of the head being fixed.  Yes I move it around and twist it and insert at different levels.  Maybe I am incompetent;  make that PROBABLY!

Maybe this is my issue--I cannot get behind the plant/boxes due to their location and my wind support arrangement; all spraying is from the front side.

Agreed, this is such a difficult task and I get so frustrated with it. My sprayers don't spray for long after I turn them upside down. I'm using little Hudson-type sprayers because I only have 3 EBs and can't see mixing a huge batch of stuff that won't keep on the shelf...guess I need to break down and get a big one with a wand.

Whichever you choose, big or small - it's the wand that makes the difference in being able to spray the undersides.

No need to get a big sprayer... check this one out for smaller spraying jobs. Only 1/2 gallon, the wand can extend with the turn of a knob, and the cup swivels in all directions to aim the spray. I love mine.:

Mickie,
I was looking for this post from you....I thought it had come from you, it sounds perfect ... I ordered a different one when you posted this previously....I wish I had picked this one for under the leaves.  I am a slower learner than I thought....

Mickie, that sprayer is great. I'll be grabbing some of those before I set out my fall plants.
