I *know* I had a topic here about when I set up my first box this year.  It had "FL" in the title.  I cannot find it.  Arghhhh.

...the Park's Whopper in that box has produced NO tomato without BER--and most are the entire bottom half of the tomato, not just a spot.  I have used the snack regularly.  In past years I would have a few with BER at the beginning of the season, then it would abate.

No. Silly me.  I did not do the hydrated lime treatment because I didn't have any of it and because BER had always abated in the past.

Mix is three years old except for amounts added each year when root bundles removed.  Fall of first year, that was substantial when okra was taken out.

This is acting like a Roma, but it is not a paste tomato

Lucky you!  That is pretty unusual.  You can buy Mrs Wagner's Pickling Lime at Walmarts here in CA.  First year in EB I DID grow a Roma.  Super Marzano as I recall. Didn't know anything back then and was despondant when they all got black spots on the bottom.  Cry  I had a LOT too!  This year for the first time since then I am trying again with Opalka, San Marzano Redorta, Orange Banana and Speckled Roaman.  Boxes are several years old and now I know to use Snack.  Unlike you, (Silly) I Do have pickling lime on hand if needed.  Grin

Maybe the variety has BER issues relating to to this years much hotter than average weather.  Try it in the fall or switch varieties.

YES!  I did a search with the magnifying glass for [tomatoes FL] words, and it did not show up!

Just tried it again.  Same thing, at least in the first several pages.

I just used *fl*   and your name. This is the most recent of the results.

Stupid of me; my mind was concentrating on remembering words in the title; didn't even think of using name.  How simple.
