Good morning,

After three years I figured I'm ready to share a picture. Sad to say, I'm not as handy with photoshop as some, so I apologise in advance, but I wanted to share SOMETHING. This is a picture of the left and right side of our deck in Philadelphia. Mostly earthboxes. We have (from left to right) Beets (some sort of grow bag), Swiss Chard and Kale (Kale is too small to see), Corn (forget the type at the mo), Hot Peppers (cherry, pablano and jalepeno all with peppers), Better Bush Tomato (in the green container), Black Krim tomato, Bush Cucumber (name??), Beefsteak Tomato hybrid) and I'm just realizing that you can't see my potatos which are on the far right in a grow bag.

First year for corn (it's my "fun/trial" box) and it's growing well. I'm using 10-10-10 with everything this year and perhaps it's the variety of what I picked to grow, but everything is super green/healthy/producing LOTS of fruit. Most are started from seed with the exception of the hot peppers. Those seedlings didn't make it and I wound up buying pretty decent sized plants from Lowes. The result is that I have hot peppers about a month and half earlier than I normally do. We're already eating Swiss Chard, Beets and Cucumbers. That one tomato plant in the green container was planted at the same time as the other tomatos by the way. Soooo....yeah...

The bush cucumber was a first this year. I should have researched it more. I mistakenly thought it would "be" a bush. I realized my mistake a little late and I'm having to hunt for cucumbers. In the past I trellised them ("traditional" cucs) and they were wasy to pick/see but the DH didn't care for the look of the towering trellised vines, so I thought this was a good compromise. That being said, I'm very pleased with the taste and production of the ones I have found.

I just planted some summer squash and mellons downstairs in the back. I hope to have some better pics to share of everything soon. Must. Document. Better.

Cheers!
J.C.

Curious as to which bush cuke you are growing.  I planted 4 "Burpless Bush", and they are pretty vine-y as well.  We had to build a small trellis, and those bad boys are still going up...

This looks great! What a nice variety of things to eat. Good to know about the bush cuke...I was considering one for next year, but I may just deal with the vine instead. Thanks for sharing!

What a great place to have a garden! Looks like a great place to kick back w/ a cold beverage and watch the garden grow.

Thank you all! I hope to get some more pics this weekend. The corn is just growing crazy and I'm picking at least 3-4 cucs a day! Yay fresh produce!!

Cheers,
J.C.
