My tomato plants look a little sickly.  Water was running over the top rather than thru the drain hole. I am getting some baby tomatoes on Early Girl. I am wondering if the yellowing of the bottom leaves is from waterlogging? I thought (too late?) or poking a stick in the hole till the water flowed from the drain again. Or could it be that there is a different issue?

ohmigosh, if I am reading right what you wrote, your box is completely filled with water--that would be a MAJOR problem and certain to kill the plants.

Yes indeed, try to clear the drain so that the water in the box can drain down to equilibrium level.

In this severe case, if you have clear weather, I think I would try to lift the edges of the cover and fold them back for a day or two to allow evaporation as well.

If the water is flowing over the top of the box then you wont be able to grow anything except lily pads.
You definatly need to unclog the drain hole.  Huh? Undecided

I have been known to take a serrated knife like a steak knife up inside the drain hole and start sawing away. I know some have suggested fish, if you don't get that dried out, you might consider planting rice!

I easily unclogged the hole with a stick.  The tomato plants seem to be doing okay..my oldest tomato on the early girl should be ready to eat in a day or two....if i can get it before the critters do.

I have been in my house for 9 years and this is the first year I have at least 2 rabbits. Something ate my tomatoes last year, but I never saw what it was. My neighbor said a squirrel was getting hers.

My aunt told me talcum powder repels rabbits, so I spent $1 on a store brand "shower to shower" type powder at Family Dollar and I went round the perimeter of the garden. We'll see. I have gotten one strawberry so far. The rabbits have gotten many.
