Just wanted to say hi, and introduce myself.  I've been a container gardener for 2 years now, and just discovered the earthbox.  I'm giving 2 a whirl and I'm sure I will buy more in the future.  If there are any vet's out there that would help me make my toms better, I'd gladly listen.  Questions are: 1)Extra fert? 2) Soil seems extremely hot with red cover.  That's all I have right now, but I'm sure there will be more.

Hi and welcome to the EB forum! You will do wellto read through the stickied threads, especially the New to Earthbox?... Start Here in the Q & A section.

Earthbox gardening is very different from regular container gardening, so some assumptions need to be forgotten. Same for in-ground gardening... best to forget what you knew and just start over in the learning process.  Cheesy

The box may seem to be too hot, yet if you stuck your hand down into the center of the box, it would be much cooler... not to worry.

Good luck,
Mickie

Wow, nice work on the trellis' and thanks for the advice.  I'm retired military going to school and just getting back into shape after neck surgery.  It makes me feel good to grow things,  makes me feel useful around here.  For anyone that has had neck surgery with all the restrictions afterward you will know what I mean.  The earthbox makes things easier for me....just sit in my chair and watch them grow (after wife picks up bag of dirt for me Sad
