Picture of cauliflower

I know not the prettiest picture of cauliflower.  But these are the first cauliflower I have ever grown.  Picked them this morning.  I guess I left some of my brocolli on too long.  They are not growing as big as my cauliflower did.  I think I will get two more cauliflower.  Hopefully other two will grow better now that I cut back the two I picked.

You can blanch cauliflower by tying  some of the inner leaves up around the head while the head is forming. This will protect the head from the sun and will keep it from yellowing.

I am going to tie together the remaining two cauliflower plants I have.  They don't appear to have cauliflower head going yet or very small.  I'm learning alot this year it is amazing watching the results.  I know they say you can get maybe a few smaller heads but I cut out those gigantic leaves I had around the cauliflower I don't think I will get any heads without the green leaves over them.  Only gettings two heads out of those though seems a shame.  I don't think I could grow cauliflower very well in the ground I wouldn't keep it watered enough probably.

Hubby thinks he doesn't like vegetables.

He 'needs' cheese sauce on things like cauliflower and used to need it on brocolli.  I told him the name of the yellow/orange cauliflower was 'Cheddar Cheese'  and he agreed that it tasted like it had cheese on it.  I told him the green one was a cross with brocolli, and he bought that too.  ;> 

What can I tell him about the purple one?  He hasn't yet even tried purple potatoes, so the cauliflower would be a real stretch.

I'm with you.  I think the great big plant with only one head is a waste of EarthBox space.  Maybe if they produced several smaller heads I'd think about growing it again.
