Resize photos link & posting... To resize (file size) your photos, this link has some very handy 'toys' written by Microsoft developers. One of them is an image resizer, which installs in seconds, and gives an option to resize in the menu when you right-click over your picture. It will not destroy your original photo, it makes a new resized one. VERY HANDY!!! and very easy!! Scroll down to ImageResizer.exe in the right-hand column. If you click on this file, it will automatically install on your pc (or you can save the file and install it later). http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspxWhen resizing, I select LARGE, and it reduces the file size without affecting the picture size or quality. After you've resized your picture, in your open post screen, click lower left: ADDITIONAL OPTIONS. Select BROWSE, then find your picture on your computer. If you have more than one pic, click on MORE ATTACHMENTS and repeat. Mickie

Hi, Mickie, I tried your instructions but it didn't work. I downloaded the resize image program to my computer, and then right clicked over one of my photos, but did not get a resize option. I don't know why it's not working...any suggestions? I wasn't sure where to put the resize image program when I downloaded it, so I put it in "my documents." Would that be the problem?
Thanks for your help.
Marcia

It's a *.exe executable program. If you only downloaded it onto your computer, you now need to install it. Do that simply by double-clicking on it. Also, please put your location and zone, if known, in your profile. That way, it will show up in all your posts... it helps when diagnosing problems, answering questions and we won't have to keep asking you where you are. This post tells and shows you how: http://forum.earthbox.com/index.php?topic=283.msg1673#msg1673Mickie

I use a program called "IrfanView"... Open the image with it, select IMAGE and then RESIZE and you can select whatever size you desire... Did I mention that it's FREE! http://www.irfanview.com/

Thank you! It works now, and I will try to send a photo in my next post to the Q and A forum.

Thanks for the post.
I have a Macintosh computer - I'm going to search a few sites and see if I can find one for Mac's.

Preview will allow you to re-save a JPEG at a different quality and tell you the size it's going to save as, it also has an Adjust Size option under the Tools menu. iPhoto should also have the same options. Paul

Hi, SadLady. Why are you sad? You have everything you need if you have an iMac. Just to elaborate on Paul's post, when you are in iPhoto, click on the picture you want to post and go to "File," then "Export." You'll get a prompt asking what format you want and whether you want to resize. Choose JPG for format and "scale images ..." then type in the size you want. Just type in one dimension and the other will adjust proportionately. On the right side of that box, I always have checked "use filename" and "use extension" but you can choose whatever works for you here. Then click the "export" button. You will get another box directing you to give your picture a name and a place where you want to save it. You can save it in a folder, or just on your desktop, wherever you think it will be easier for you to manage. If it's something I'm just going to post here and then get rid of the copy I've made, I usually just choose desktop. Remember that iPhoto saves all your originals so you are free then to trash or do whatever else you like to the copy of your image that you prepared after you've posted it here, emailed it to a friend, or whatever. I hope that helps. I'm sorry if you knew all this already! Let me know if you have any more questions.

So what photo SIZE is desired? I can resize my own photos with PhotoShop and I had rather do that, so I can crop, etc.

We'd like to not be limited but for now, 100KB is the max size, 4 per post.

Here is an 800x600 for an example: The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum was created to honor those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever by the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

What method do you use to post this giant? Photobucket or the sort? I'm thinking of starting to do this instead of uploading. I saved this picture to my pic file and it says its 506KBs, not uploadable from pc to the forum, but by putting its URL in the text you are able to get around the imposed 100KB limitation.
This is the difference in quality.Yours is much sharper than my 85.67kb.

When I use the image resizer powertoy, it changes the file size, but not the resolution. I can get under 100k, and still have hi-res image that is large, and sharp. I don't know if the clone resizer does the same, but I bet it does.

So, are you saying that we don't have to up load our pictures to photo bucket? I did down load the image resizer but I'm not sure what to do with it. Can you give more detailed info for posting pictures? grb 1
